One of my most favorite movies ever is fight club. I think this movie was put together very well and had some great actors. Edward Norton happens to be my favorite actor too, so that helped.
In the movie fight club actor Edward Norton plays a 30 sumthing year old paper pusher who had a stable life but felt empty inside. He then developed severe sleep deprivation and meets a soap dealer/make who changes his life for ever. This "soap dealer" has an intricit plan to destroy all records of credit in the US to redistribute wealth across the nation to destroy the man. It all starts when the two create a "fight club" which later turns into a cult. Throughout the movie the character edward norton plays goes through hudge personality changes (if you will).
My opinion of the plot is that it was freakin awesome. It blew my mind when i felt like i had no idea what was going on the whole movie and then finally at the end it all just strung itself together, it was awesome.
Some themes identified in Fight club could be
A. Materialism
1. Jack defined via his stuff
2.He works at a “job he hates to buy shit he doesn’t need”
B. Tyler as his Identity
1. Everything that the narrorator wants to be
2. Tyler has a plan for his life and the Narrorator doesnt know what hes doing with his.
Main Characters:
1. The Narorator - A severly sleepdeprived man with the classic symptoms of depression who finds happieness in a bizzare club that he starts with his split personality partner Tyler.
2. Tyler Durden - A soap maker/bomb maker anarchist who helps to start fight club with The Narrorator. He turns out to be the narroators other personality
3. Marla Singer - A indirect love intrist for the Narrorator. The Narrorator would not recall but his other personality developed a sexual relationship with her while the narrorator developed a personal one.
The director producer and writer all did a very good job in tieing the whole film together. They had a stylistic way in the way the portrayed the characters.
“That was not just stuff in there, that was me. That condo was my life.”
“We used to read pornography, now it’s the Horchow collection.”
